Traditional Knife Sharpening

Traditional knife sharpening methods involve using hard or rough surfaces such as a whet stone or diamond plated stone to precisely create a sharp edge on a knife. Next, a leather strop is used to polish and refine the edge. These methods allow for more control over the angle and pressure, resulting in a sharper knife.

Don't be fooled by quick modern methods like sharpening wheels, grinders, or pull-through gadgets. Quick doesn't mean good. They can really do a lot of damage to your blade. Most knife blades are heat treated to improve hardness. If a blade overheats on a wheel it can completely undo that treatment leaving you with a softer metal. And it's really easy to grind a blade unevenly and ruin an edge. Don't let anybody do your knife this way.

We use traditional knife sharpening with a diamond-plated stone and a leather strop to carefully and skillfully bring the blade to its full potential. Your knife will be sharper than it's ever been–and it'll keep an edge longer too!
